RESOLUTION NO. 110 OF 1987
APPROVING A SKYWALK ACROSS FIRST SOUTH
PURSUANT TO PETITION NO. 400-510-87
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Council has previously adopted a Policy
Statement on aerial walkways over public rights-of-way; and
WHEREAS, Petition No. 400-510-87 requests permission to construct a skywalk
across First South connecting the ZCMI Center with a parking terrace on Regent Street;
and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has held hearings pursuant to the
Council's Policy Statement and the Planning Commission's own Policy Statement
concerning aerial walkways; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that the requirements for public notice and hearing
in its Policy Statement concerning aerial walkways have been met; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has recommended that the permit be
approved subject to certain conditions; and
WHEREAS, the Council is fully informed of the plans, the recommendations of
the various departments of the City, the public testimony and all other matters concerning
the skywalk;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah,
as follows:
1. That approval of construction of the skywalk as proposed by Petition No.
400-510-87 is hereby granted, subject to the issuance of a building permit which should
not be granted until the conditions specified by the Planning Department in its letter of
June 2, 1987 to Mayor Palmer DePaulis (which letter is on file with the City Recorder's
office in this petition) are met and until a lease agreement is executed between the City
and the skywalk owner for the use of the airspace at fair market value.
