RESOLUTION 116 OF 1985
RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE CREATION OF
UNIVERSITY OF UTAH
RESEARCH PARK ADVISORY COMMITTEE
August 28, 1985
WHEREAS, the University of Utah Research Park was
established by the Utah State Legislature to advance and promote
education, science, research, economic development and related
purposes;
WHEREAS, the real property contained within the
Research Park is owned by the University of Utah and is made
available for lease to persons or entities who meet the tenancy
criteria established by the University of Utah and approved by
the Institutional Council;
WHEREAS, the Research Park is located in the proximity
of residential neighborhoods of Salt Lake City and the
development of Research Park may have a direct impact upon the
economic and social environment of said neighborhoods;
WHEREAS, the University of Utah and Salt Lake City are
sensitive to the needs of the neighborhoods and desire to
minimize any negative impacts which development within the
Research Park may create;
WHEREAS, the University of Utah and Salt Lake City
believe that through planning and mutual effort, such impacts may
be negated or mitigated;
WHEREAS, the University of Utah has proposed the
establishment of an Advisory Committee to provide advice to the
University Administration concerning the future development of
the Research Park and as a means of keeping interested persons
advised about Research Park development and operations;
WHEREAS, the University of Utah has established a
charter for the Advisory Committee (attached as Exhibit A) and
has agreed to appoint Committee members and initiate Committee
meetincs and activities no later than December 1, 1985;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
SALT LAKE CITY, THE MAYOR CONCURRING THEREIN;
1. The University of Utah has complied with the
provisions of Salt Lake City Ordinance No. 69 of 1985.
2. The Mayor of Salt Lake City shall publish the
ordinance and make it effective immediately.
Passed by the Mayor and City Council of Salt Lake City,
Utah, this loth day of Sei)tember , 1985.
