WHEREAS, Northwest Intermediate School was recently cited as an exemplary school by the
United States Department of Education; and �
WHEREAS" The need for improving the educational achievement of our community's youth is '
' ' a vital priority for our City and our Nation; and '^|

WHEREAS, The example of Northwest Intermediate School serves as u standard of quality,
hard work, and commitment to educational excellence that is critical to the
future interests of Salt Lake City and the State of Utah; and �
WHEREAS, The Mayor and City Council of Salt Lake City wish to recognize the dedication
and commitment of the students, teachers, administrators and parents who have �
worked together to achieve excellence in education. �
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council and Mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah, �
� that we hereby honor and officially congratulate the students, teachers,

Councilmember Bittner read the resolution and she,
the Mayor and Mr. Stepan presented it to the vice principal of
the school.
Councilmember Godfrey moved and Councilmember Kirk
seconded to adopt Resolution 117 of 1989, which motion carried,
all members present voted aye.
