A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE
CITY COUNCIL AND MAYOR OF
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
WHEREAS, Judge Memorial Catholic High School has recently been honored by the United States
-a Department of Education and has received an Outstanding School of Excellence award
;4 as part of the national secondary school recognition program; and

WHEREAS, This is the second time that Judge Memorial Catholic High School has received this ;
t prestigious award for its commitment to academic excellence during the past four
years; and
WHEREAS, The students, teachers and administrators of Judge Memorial Catholic High School
have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to achieving a superb educational
environment at Judge Memorial Catholic High School as demonstrated by receiving

WHEREAS, Judge Memorial Catholic High School 's commitment to educational excellence and
�y maintaining an environment for learning is a standard to be modeled by other
a high schools in Salt Lake City and the State of Utah; and

commitment of the students, teachers, administrators and parents at Judge Memorial

=t NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council and Mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah,
that we hereby honor and officially congratulate the students, teachers, =

Councilmember Godfrey read the resolution and he
and the Mayor presented it to John McGean, principal. Mr. McGean
thanked the Council for this recognition. He said the coopera-
tion between the private sector, the Catholic educational system,
the State of Utah and public sector had always been excellent.
Councilmember Horrocks said that Judge Memorial had always set an
example of excellence in education.
Mayor DePaulis said it was significant for the
city to recognize the schools represented at this meeting and
know that these schools represented the school system. He said
this was a symbol of the strength and diversity of the city.
Councilmember Godfrey moved and Councilmember Kirk
seconded to adopt Resolution 119 of 1989, which motion carried,
all members present voted aye.
