A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE
CITY COUNCIL AND MAYOR OF
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
Resolution No. 125 of 1988
WHEREAS, Deputy Fire Chief Marvin C. Kimball began employment with
Salt Lake City Corporation on April 1, 1950, as a firefighter
and worked up through the ranks, achieving the position
of Deputy Chief in November, 1981; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Kimball was designated Fire Marshall for Salt
Lake City in March 1382; and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City iias benefited from Deputy Chief Kimball's
participation in the Greater Salt Lake Chief Fire Officers
Association, the Utah State Firemen's :association, the Salt
Lake City Firemen's Relief Association, and the Salt Lake
City Fire? Officers Association; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Kimball has contributed to the continuing improve-
ment of the fire service in Utah as an instructor for the
Fire Science program at Salt Lake Community College and
as President of the Utah Fire Education Association; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Kimball has enhanced thle fire service profession
in Utah as a member of the Utah State Fire Training State
Certification Board and State Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City has benefited from Deputy Chief Kimball's
role as a charter member, appointed by Governor Norman H.
Bangerter, of the Utah State Liquid Petroleum Gas Board;
and
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Kimball has strengthened the relationship between
Salt Lake City Fire Department and departments in other
cities by means of his membership in the National Fire Protec-
tion Association, Associated Public Safety Communications
Officers, International Assocation of Fire Chiefs, Western
Fire Chiefs Association, and the Fire Marshal's Association
of North America; and
WHEREAS, On August 31, 1988, Deputy Fire Chief Marvin C. Kimball
retired from the City after more than 38 years of service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council and Mayor Palmer
DePaulis of Salt Lake City, Utah, that they do hereby commend
Deputy Chief Marvin C. Kimball for his years of dedicated
service to the City, and wish him well in his retirement.

Deputy Fire Chief Marvin C. Kimball was presented a joint resolution
of appreciation by the Council for his 38 years of dedicated service to
Salt Lake City Corporation. He began his career on April 1, 1950, as a
fire fighter and worked up through the ranks, achieving the position of
Deputy Chief in November, 1981 .
Councilmember Fonnesbeck moved and Councilmember Godfrey seconded to
adopt Resolution 125 of 1988, commending Deputy Fire Chief Marvin C.
Kimball for his 38 years of service to Salt Lake City, which motion
carried, all members voted aye.
