014 of 1986 - Support of Council & Mayor for Little Dell Dam Project • • R 86-1 Y JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR OF SALT LAKE CITY AND THE SALT LAKE CITY COUNCIL 3� � \ FOR LITTLE DELL LAKE PROJECT RESOLUTION NO. 14 OF 1986 WHEREAS the proposed Little Dell Lake Project will provide flood control protection to Mt. Dell Reservoir and the 13th South flood plain, and WHEREAS Little Dell Lake Project will provide additional water supply to the Salt Lake City service area and shall firm up the water supply now pumped to the East Bench water users , and WHEREAS the Little Dell Lake Project Task Force consisting of representatives from Salt Lake City, Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County has evaluated proposals for the Little Dell Lake Project, and WHEREAS the Little Dell Task Force has recommended the Army Corps of Engineers ' 21, 000 acre-foot project at an estimated total cost of $45. 5 million with local participation at $20. 4 million, and WHEREAS the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake City and Board of Salt Lake County Commissioners have approved the Corps of Engineers ' project and authorized negotiations with the Corps of Engineers for the construction of the project, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SALT LAKE CITY COUNCIL AND MAYOR that they hereby support the Little Dell Lake Project as proposed by the Army Corps of Engineers and urge the project sponsors , Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County to negotiate with the Army Corps of Engineers a "local cooperative agreement ." BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Salt Lake City Council and Mayor encourage local, state and federal elected officials to support the funding and construction of this vital project .
