RESOLUTION NO. 152 OF 1986
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF THE
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN
SALT LAKE CITY CORPORATION AND
THE SALT LAKE POLICE ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS, Section 9( c) of the Salt Lake City Third Amended
Labor Bargaining Resolution dated April 10 , 1984, provides that
no Collective Bargaining Memorandum of Understanding shall be
effective until the governing body of the Salt Lake City
Corporation , hereinafter referred to as the "City" , approves said
Memorandum of Understanding , enacts implementing legislation, and
appropriates all required funds ; and
WHEREAS, Section 25-1-1 .2 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City states in part that commencing September 1 , 1986, the
terms and conditions of a Memorandum of Understanding between
Salt Lake City and the Salt Lake Police Association dated June
11 , 1985 shall be the compensation, working conditions and
benefits of the City employees who are within the unit and are
covered by the referenced Memorandum of Understanding except
retirement benefits shall be governed by the 1986 Amendments to
the Utah Public Safety Retirement Act, Title 49 Chapter 11 of the
Utah Code Annotated. Section 25-1-1 . 2 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City was effective unless amended or unless a
Memorandum of Understanding between Salt Lake City Corporation
and the recognized employee bargaining -units wa-s ratified- by the-
City Council pursuant to the Salt Lake City Third Amended
Collective Bargaining Resolution dated April 10, 1984 ; and
WHEREAS, a Memorandum of Understanding between the City and
the Salt Lake Police Association has been negotiated , a copy of
which is attached hereto ; and
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Council has appropriated
necessary funds required to implement the provisions of the
Memorandum of Understanding relating to fiscal year 1986-1987;
and
WHEREAS, the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding
relating to compensation after the fiscal year 1986-1987 are
expressly subject to subsequent evaluation and approval by the
City Council and to the availability and appropriation of funds ;
a nd
WHEREAS, based upon the foregoing , the City Council desires
to hereby evidence its approval of the attached Memorandum of
Understanding ;
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of Salt Lake
City, Utah :
1 . That it does hereby approve the attached Memorandum of
Understanding between the City and the Salt Lake Police
Association.
2. That Palmer A. DePaulis, Mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah,
is hereby authorized to execute the said Memorandum of
Understanding on behalf of Salt Lake City Corporation and to act
in accordance with its terms .
