First Amendment to North Temple Interlocal Agreement with Salt Lake City School
District
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE REDEVELOPMENT
AGENCY OF SALT LAKE CITY ADOPTING AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO INTERLOCAL
AGREEMENT WITH SALT LAKE CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City ("RDA") and the Board
of Education of the Salt Lake City School District ("District") executed that certain
Interlocal Agreement dated January 23, 2012 ("Original Agreement") to set aside up to .
$2,000,000 ("Reserve Account") for the District's use to construct a new school in the
RDA's North Temple Project Area.
WHEREAS,the Reserve Account was created pursuant to Utah Code 17C-1-410(2),
which allows the RDA to use agency funds to pay the District an amount of money the RDA
determines to be appropriate to alleviate a financial burden or detriment borne by the District
because of the RDA's project area development.
WHEREAS,the RDA and District desire to amend the Original Agreement to allow
the District to use the Reserve Account for purposes other than construction costs of a new
school in the North Temple Project Area.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY the Board of Directors of the Redevelopment
Agency of Salt Lake City that:
1. The Original Agreement shall be amended to allow the District to use the Reserve
Account for the following purposes and under the following conditions, rather than
on construction of a new school in the North Temple Project Area:
a. Infrastructure and safety improvements related to schools that generally serve
the North Temple Project Area,with a focus on Franklin Elementary,Jackson
Elementary, and Backman Elementary schools.
b. The RDA prioritizes funding infrastructure improvements that improve
student and pedestrian safety and connectivity for the neighborhood. Safety
improvements should strike a balance between achieving safety and security
for students and while still preserving open,walkable spaces and connectivity
for the neighborhood.

c. Any design for a safety crossing in a City public street will be coordinated
with the Salt Lake City Transportation Division.
2. The maximum funds in the Reserve Account will not increase and all other terms of
the Original Agreement shall remain in full force and effect.
