(Adopting Side Yards and Buildable Space
Requirements in the "F-l" Overlay Zone)
AN ORDINANCE ADDING SECTION 51-12A-5 TO THE REVISED
ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO
SIDE YARDS AND BUILDABLE SPACES IN THE "F-l " OVERLAY ZONE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, has held
public hearings before its own body and before the Planning
Commission concerning the building requirements in the "F-l"
Overlay Zone and believes the following additions to be
appropriate ;
THEREFORE, the City Council of Salt Lake City , Utah, hereby
adopts the following addition to the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City , Utah:
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 51-12A-5 be added to the Revised
Ordinaces of Salt Lake City , Utah, 1965, as amended , to read as
follows :
Sec. 51-12A-5. Side yards and buildable space requirements
in Foothill Development Overlay Zone. Any buildings constructed
after the effective date of this ordinance shall be required to
maintain minimum side yard widths of 20 feet on each side and. a
rear yard minimum of 40 feet. No more than 500 of the total lot
area in this zone shall be covered by buildings or other hard
surfacing such as concrete driveways, sidewalks or other similar
hard surfaces .
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect thirty ( 30)
days after the date of its first publication. The amendment
provisions of this ordinance shall not apply to buildings
constructed on lots for which final subdivision approval has been
granted by the Planning Commission by the effective date of this
ordinance nor for proposed subdivisions which have received
preliminary approval from the planning commission before February
17, 1987 provided that such preliminarily approved plans receive
final approval on or before February 17 , 1988.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
