017 of 2014 - 21A.46.100; monument sign height in manufacturing zoning districts 0 14-1 0 14-5 SALT LAKE CfTY ORDINANCE No. 17 of 2014 (An ordinance amending Sections 21A.46.100 and 21A.46.070 of the Salt Lake C'Ot Code pertaining to monument signs in manufacturing districts) An ordinance amending Sections 21A.46.100(Zoning:Signs: Sign Regulations for Manufacturing Districts)and 21A.46.070(Zoning:Signs:General Standards)of the Suit Lake City('ode pursuant to Petition No.PI,NPCM2013-00197 to allow increased monument sign height in the M-1 and M-2 zoning districts. WHEREAS,the Salt Lake City Planning Commission held a public hearing on August 28,2013 to consider a request made by YESCO(Petition No.PLNPCM2013-00197)to amend Section 21A.46.100 of the Salt Lake City Code(Zoning:Signs:Sign Regulations for Manufacturing Districts)to allow increased monument sign height in the M-1 bight Manufacturing and M-2 Heavy Manufacturing zoning districts;and WHEREAS,at its August 28,2013 meeting,the planning commission voted to transmit a positive recommendation to the Salt Lake City Council on said application;and WHEREAS,after discussion by the city council at its March 18,2014 work session,the city council finds that amending Section 21A.46.070.0(Zoning:Signs:General Standards: Freeway Frontage)is in the city's best interests and is within the scope of the matters considered by the planning commission;and WHEREAS,after a public hearing on this matter the city council has determined that adopting this ordinance is in the city's best interests. NOW,llll?RI:FORE,be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City,Utah: SECTION 1. Amending text of Salt Lake City Code Section 21A.46.100. That Section 21A.46.100 of the Salt Lake City Code (Zoning: Signs: Sign Regulations for Manufacturing Districts), shall be, and hereby is, amended to read as follows: 21A.46.100: SIGN REGULATIONS FOR MANUFACTURING DISTRICTS: The following regulations shall apply to signs permitted in the manufacturing districts. Any sign not expressly permitted by these district regulations is prohibited. A. Sign Regulations for the M-1 and M-2 Manufacturing Districts: 1. Purpose: Sign regulations for the M-1 and M-2 districts are intended to provide for appropriate identification of industrial and manufacturing uses. Signage should enhance the aesthetics of the districts, rather than clutter the area. Supportive commercial signage should be in scale with industrial signage. 2. Applicability: Regulations in subsection A3 of this section shall apply to all lots within the M-1 and M-2 districts. 3. Supplementary Regulations: a. Lot Frontage Requirements: A minimum lot frontage of one hundred feet (100') shall be required for pole signs or monument signs. SECTION 2. Amending text of Salt Lake City Code Section 21A.46.070.U. That Section 21A.46.070.0 of the Salt Lake City Code (Zoning: Signs: General Standards: Freeway Frontage), shall be, and hereby is, amended to read as follows: U. Freeway Frontage: Freeways shall be considered street frontage for signage purposes, except for monument signs. Pole signs approved on freeway frontage shall be limited to seventy five percent (75%) of the maximum size allowed for the zone. Reduced size pole signs shall be interchangeable with other pole signs on the same site. SECTION 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective on the date of its first publication.
