SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE
No. 24 of 2000
(Community Housing Plan)
AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A COMMUNITY HOUSING PLAN FOR SALT LAKE
CITY AS REQUIRED BY UTAH HOUSE BILL 210 OF 1998.
WHEREAS, the Utah State House Bill 210, enacted by the 1998
Utah legislature, requires all municipalities throughout the
state to prepare and adopt a moderate-income housing plan; and
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Community Housing Plan is based
on the housing policy statements adopted by the City Council in
December, 1999, and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City's Community Housing Plan will
provide a framework of housing policies and implementation
strategies, which will guide the City's efforts to develop new
housing opportunities, while preserving the City's existing
housing stock, and
WHEREAS, the Plan addresses issues relating to the types of
housing the City wants to develop and preserve and establishes
specific action steps.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Community Housing Plan attached hereto
and made a part hereof by this reference is hereby adopted as the
Salt Lake City Community Housing Plan (and as part of the City's
overall General Plan) , which includes the City's plan for
moderate income housing, as required by Utah House Bill 210
enacted by the 1998 Utah legislature.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon the date of its first publication.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah this
2nd day of May , 2000.
