(Parking for the Handicapped)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUBSECTION ( 1 ) OF SECTION 160-A OF THE
TRAFFIC CODE OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, RELATING TO PARKING FOR THE
HANDICAPPED .
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City , Utah:
SECTION 1 . That Subsection ( 1 ) of Section 160-A of the
Traffic Code of Salt Lake City , Utah, relating to parking for the
handicapped, be, and the same hereby is amended as follows :
Sec. 160-A. Handicap parking . ( 1 ) Handicap parking at
meters and in restricted areas. A handicapped person, whose
automobile has affixed thereto as provided by law the handicap
license plate issued by the State of Utah, shall be entitled to
park at any parking meter and in the following identified
restricted parking areas, without charge, notwithstanding any
other state or municipal parking restriction: Freight loading
zones passenger loading zones and time limited parking zones. It
shall be unlawful for such handicapped person to:
(a) Park for longer than reasonable periods of time at all
such meters and restricted parking areas where the maximum
metered or designated time is longer than 30 minutes.
"Reasonable" herein shall mean the maximum metered or designated
time, or two hours, whichever is longer; or
(b) Park for longer than the maximum metered or desiqnated
time at all other meters and restricted parking areas except
those listed under subparagraph ( 4 ) herein .
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah,
