SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE
No. 37 of 1982
(Sale of Grave Sites)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 6-2-2 and 6-3-9 OF THE
REVISED ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965, RELATING TO
SALE OF GRAVE SITES AND AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF TITLE 6 OF THE
REVISED ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965, BY ADDING
THERETO A NEW SECTION 6-2-13.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 6-2-2 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, be, and the same hereby is amended to read
as follows:
Sec. 6-2-2. Price. The price for each grave site sold in
the various locations within the city cemetery shall be as
follows:
1. Adult grave site $300.00
2. Infant grave site 150.00
SECTION 2. That Section 6-3-9 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, be, and the same hereby is amended to read
as follows:
Sec. 6-3-9. Fees. The city sexton shall collect from those
requiring his services, the following fees:
For opening and closing a single
infant grave of five feet in
length or less $ 50.00
For opening and closing a single
adult grave for cement
receptacle $150.00
Removal of the remains of any
deceased adult person from one
grave to another within the city
cemetery 240.00
Removal of the remains of any deceased
adult person for interment outside
of the city cemetery 120.00
Removal of the remains of an infant
from one grave to another within
the city cemetery 100.00
Removal of the remains of an infant
for interment outside the city
cemetery 50.00
For interments not completed by 3:00 p.m. on any day a fee
equal to two times the actual salary expenses of the crew
involved shall be charged in addition to any other fees and costs
provided in this title.
For any burial on a Saturday, there shall be charged a fee
of $100, which shall be in addition to any other fees and costs
provided in this title.
SECTION 3. That Chapter 2 of Title 6 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, be, and the same hereby is
amended by adding a new section 13 thereto to read as follows:
Sec. 6-2-13. Fee for recording transfer of certificate of
burial rights. The fee for recording a transfer of the
certificate of burial rights from the original purchaser to
another party shall be $15.00. No such transfer shall be binding
upon the city, until said transfer fee has been paid and the
transfer recorded by the city sexton.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 8th day of June 1982.
