058 of 1985 - Burglar Alarm Businesses es- � SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE No. 58 of 1985 ( Burglar Alarm Businesses) AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 3, 4, 5 and 6 of CHAPTER 35 OF TITLE 20 OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965, RELATING TO BURGLAR ALARM BUSINESSES. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah : SECTION 1 . That Section 20-35-3 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, relating to license to operate an alarm business, be, and the same hereby is amended to read as follows : Sec. 20-35-3 . License to operate an alarm business. It shall be unlawful for any person to own, manage, conduct, or carry on an alarm business or to own, manage, conduct, or carry on the business of monitoring and relaying calls for burglar , robbery alarm or other emergency alarm systems, unless there exists a valid license therefor , granted and subsisting in compliance with the provisions of this chapter. Application therefor, shall set forth the full name, date of birth, place of birth, address of applicant, and proof of a valid security certificate issued by the State of Utah. SECTION 2. That Section 20-35-4 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, relating to alarm business license procedure and requirements be, and the same hereby is amended to read as follows: Sec. 20-35-4 . Alarm business license procedure and requirements. Every application for an alarm business license and application for license renewal of same hereunder shall be filed with the Salt Lake City license department in duplicate and shall be verified under oath. A copy of such application shall be referred to the chief of police for confirmation with the state that the applicant is the person licensed by the state. SECTION 3. That Section 20-35-5 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, relating to employee' s license to labor at trade or install burglar, robbery or other emergency alarm systems, be, and the same hereby is amended to read as follows : Sec. 20-35-5. Employee' s license to labor at trade or install burglar, robbery or other emergency alarm systems. It shall be unlawful for any person, including a person possessing an alarm business license under section 20-35-3 hereof, to engage directly in the installing, servicing , maintaining , repairing , moving , or removing in or on any building or other property within Salt Lake City, any burglar, robbery or other emergency alarm system, or monitoring and relaying calls for such system, unless such person shall have in his possession a valid identi- fication card issued by the state of utah pursuant to section 13-18-14, Utah Code Ann. , or successor sections, and proof the employee has registered with Salt Lake City in accordance with section 30-35-6. -2- SECTION 4. That Section 20-35-6 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, relating to employee' s license procedure and requirements, be, and the same hereby is amended to read as follows : Sec. 20-35-6. Employee' s license procedure and require- ments. Every application for an employee's license and applica- tion shall be filed with the license department and shall be verified under oath. Applicant shall set forth the full name, date of birth, place of birth, address of applicant and proof of a valid identification card issued by the State of Utah in accordance with section 13-1 8-1 4, Utah Code Ann. , or successor sections. An employee's license issued hereunder is nontrans- ferable. The identification card shall be displayed upon request of any police officer or any interested individual. It shall be valid only so long as the employee remains employed by such holder of a license required by section 20-35-3. When any permittee shall be discharged or shall terminate his employment with such holder of a license required by section 20-35-3, the employee shall immediately surrender his license to his employer and the employer shall immediately deliver or mail by registered mail to the license department of Salt Lake City such employee' s license. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publication. -3- Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, this 16th day of July , 1985.
