(An ordinance amending Title 5 by adding a new
Chapter 42 dealing with licensing marriage and
dating services)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 5 OF THE SALT LAKE CITY CODE BY
ADDING A NEW CHAPTER 42 RELATING TO MARRIAGE AND DATING SERVICES.
WHEREAS, the City Council believes it appropriate to
regulate and license marriage and dating services and believes
the following provisions to be appropriate for such licensing and
regulation.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah,
hereby adopts the following amendment to Title 5 of the Salt Lake
City Code.
Be it therefore ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Title 5 of the Salt Lake City Code be, and
the same hereby is, amended by adding a new Chapter 42 relating
to licensing and regulating marriage and dating services as
follows:
5.42.020 License - Required. It is unlawful for any
person to operate any marriage service or dating service within
the corporate limits of Salt Lake City Corporation unless such
person has obtained a license to do so.
5.42.030 License - Fee. The license fee for dating
services and marriage services shall be the sum of one hundred
fifty dollars per year.
5.42.040 License - Revocation conditions. Marriage
services and dating services shall be held strictly liable for
the conduct of their officers, agents, employees, and the
license of any marriage service or dating service shall be
revoked upon any conviction of its officers, agents or employees
for a violation of Sections 11. 16.020, 11. 16,040 through
11. 16.060, and 11. 16.100 of this code, as amended, or their
successors.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect on the date of
its first publication.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
8th day of November 1988.
