( Changing the name of Donald Douglas Road
to Challenger Road pursuant to
Petition No . 400-53 6-87 )
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 51-31-1 OF THE REVISED
ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO
THE OFFICIAL STREET MAP OF SALT LAKE CITY.
WHEREAS, in response to the request for a change in street
name initiated by Petition No. 400-536-87 the City Council has
held a public hearing before its own body and received a favor-
able recommendation from other appropriate City bodies, and
pursuant to the Council ' s deliberations, the Council had
concluded that the proposed change of street name from Donald
Douglas Road to Challenger Road in the International Center area
is appropriate .
THEREFORE, the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, hereby
adopts the following amendment to the Official Street Map
provisions of Title 51 .
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Official Street Map as adopted by
Section 51-31-1 , Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City , Utah,
1965, as amended , relating to the names of streets be , and the
same hereby is, amended as follows :
Sec . 51-31-1. That the street currently known as Donald
Douglas Road in the Salt Lake International Center area be
changed to Challenger Road and the Official Street Map is hereby
amended accordingly, and any addresses on the existing Donald
Douglas Road shall be changed to Challenger Road .
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication. The City Recorder is instructed not to publish the
ordinance until the Mayor certifies to the Recorder that the
Petitioners have paid the cost of new street signs and installa-
tion. In the event the above condition is not met within one (1 )
year the Mayor may extend the time for compliance by an additional
year. If the terms have not been met within that time this
ordinance shall became null and void and the Recorder is
instructed not to publish it .
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City , Utah, this
13th day of October 1987.
