(Use of coasters, roller skates, skateboards,
etc. , on public streets and sidewalks)
AN ORDINANCF AMENDING' SECTION 46-3-78 OF THE REVISED
ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965, RELATING TO THE USE OF
COASTERS, ROLLER SKATES, SKATEROAFDS, ETC. , ON PUBLIC STREFTS AND
SIDEWALKS.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah :
SECTION 1 . That Section 46-3-78 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake Citv, Utah, be, and the same hereby is AMFTTPED as
follows:
Sec. 46-3-78. Use of coasters, roller skates, skateboards,
etc. restricted . ( 1 ) No person upon roller skates or riding in
or by means of any coaster, sled, tov-wagon, scooter, skateboard,
or similar device, shall go upon any roadway except while
crossing such roadway on a crosswalk and when so crossing such
person shall be subject to all of the duties applicable to
pedestrians. This section shall not apply on any street while
set aside as a play street as authorized by section 89 of this
code.
(2) No person upon roller skates, or riding in or by means
of any coaster, sled, toy-wagon, scooter, skateboard, or similar
device, shall go upon any sidewalk -ithin the central traffic
district as defined in Section 8 of the Traffic Code and made a

part hereof by reference, or on any other area where prohibited
by signs.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30 )
days after the date of its first publication.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 17th day of September , 1985 .
