RE: RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO DESIGNATE A DOWNTOWN ASSESSMENT AREA
MOTION 1 – To Adopt the Resolution
I move that the Council adopt the resolution intention to designate an Assessment Area for the
purpose of levying assessments against properties within the Assessment Area to continue to promote
business activity and economic development in the central business area of downtown Salt Lake City
by assessing benefited properties within the area for the costs of economic promotion activities for a
period of three years; to fix a time and place for protests against the Assessment Area and its
assessments; and related matters.
It is the City Council’s intent that the Economic Development Department work to engage property
owners along North Temple Street from 400 West Street to 650 West and on 200 South Street
between Main Street and 200 East Street about participating in a future holiday lighting assessment.
MOTION 2—Not to Adopt the Resolution
I move that the Council NOT adopt the proposed resolution.
