038 of 1988 - Amending Sections 17.16.670 & 17.72.030 of City Code Relating to Culinary Water Rates 0 88-1 0 88-12 SALT LAKE CITY ORDINANCE No. 38 of 1988 (Culinary water rates and payments) AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 17.16.670 AND 17.72.030 OF THE SALT LAKE CITY CODE, RELATING TO CULINARY WATER RATES AND PAYMENTS. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 17.16.670 of the Salt Lake City Code, relating to culinary water rates and payments, be, and the same hereby is, amended as follows: 17.16.670 Minimum charges. The minimum charge for the first one thousand cubic feet of water used each month through each service connection shall be based on meter size used, as set out in Table 17.16.670. The minimum charge for meters larger than ten inches shall be based proportionately on meter capacity, as determined by the public utilities director. After the first one thousand cubic feet of water is delivered through the meter each month, charges for additional water shall be controlled by Section 17.16.680 of this chapter, or its successor. That Section 17.72.030 of the Salt Lake City Code, relating to Rate Schedule, be, and the same hereby is, amended as follows: 17.72.030 Schedule 3--Rates and fees. RATE SCHEDULE 1. Purpose. * * * 2. Definitions. 3. Sewer Charge. Each sewer service account shall be charged $3. 15 per month minimum charge or $.85 per 100 cubic feet of the average monthly water meter readings of those using solely city water during the consecutive months of November, December, January, February and March each year, hereafter "winter readings, " whichever is higher. Said winter readings shall be the basis for sewer billings for the period July lst through June 30th following such winter readings. Any user who had more than one water meter, one or more of which measures water eventually discharged into the sewer, and one or more other meters measuring water not entering the sewer, will be charged $.85 per 100 cubic feet for all water used which may enter the sewer, but will not be assessed a sewer charge on water meter(s) which measure water no part of which flows into the sewer system. For those not using city water or using some city water, the city may require a city-approved meter, at the sewer user' s expense, on the well(s) or other source(s) of water supply, for measurement by city during said months to determine the sewer user's water use during said months, the average of which shall become the basis for sewer billings for said period. 4. Metering of Sewage Flows. 5. New Sewer Connections or Change in Occupancy. Any new sewer service or existing sewer having changed occupants (applies only to one to three dwelling units) or those which do not have sufficient or accurate data to establish said monthly winter reading, sewer rate shall be assessed monthly charges as follows until such data is available: (a) For each single dwelling unit, $6.80 per month. (b) For each duplex, $6. 80 per month, per dwelling unit. -3- (c) For each triplex, $6. 80 per month, per dwelling unit. (d) For each multiple dwelling, a minimum monthly charge of $6. 80 per dwelling unit or $. 53 per 100 cubic feet of total water consumption, whichever is highest. (e) For all other users, a minimum charge of $6. 80 per month or $. 53 per 100 cubic feet of total water consumption, whichever is highest. 6. Sewer Charge Adjustment. 7. Food Preparatios and Processing Establishments. SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect on July 1, 1988.
