HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/04/2025 - Meeting Minutes SALT LAKE CITY HISTORIC LANDMARK COMMISSION MEETING City & County Building 451 South State Street, Room 326 Salt Lake City, Utah 84111 Thursday, September 4, 2025 A role is being kept of all who attended the Historic Landmark Commission Meeting. The meeting was called to order at approximately 5:30 PM. Audio recordings of the Historic Landmark Commission meetings are retained for a period of time. These minutes are a summary of the meeting and not a verbatim transcript. A video recording of the meeting is available at www.youtube.com/slclivemeetings Present for the Historic Landmark Commission meeting were: Carlton Getz, Babs De Lay, Alan Barnett, Michael Abrahamson, and Adrienne White. City Staff members present at the meeting were: Planning Manager Amy Thompson, Principal Planner Rylee Hall, and Office Facilitator Aubrey Clark. Commissioner Getz called the meeting to order. REPORTS OF THE CHAIR AND VICE-CHAIR Vice Chair Getz REPORT OF THE DIRECTOR Planning Manager Amy Thompson had nothing to report. PUBLIC COMMENT Cindy Cromer – Invited the commission to a celebration of the Gilgal Garden to be held on September 21, 2025, and gave a brief history of the garden. WORK SESSION 1. Avenues Community Plan Update - Planning Staff will provide a briefing on the process to update the Avenues Community plan, including an overview of the exiting conditions report for the Avenues neighborhood and a summary of the public input received so far. The Avenues Community is in the northeastern area of the city, situated between City Creek to the west, University of Utah and East Bench to th east, and Downtown and Central City to the south. The Avenues Community Plan establishes the land use and growth related policies for the area and will be used to guide zoning, transportation, housing, and similar decisions. The Commission and Staff discussed: • What will happen with the property that LDS Hospital currently inhabits • The impact that the proposal could have on the Avenues Historic District • Site Lines • View Corridor • Shade • Beautification and Placemaking OTHER BUSINESS 2. Chair and Vice-Chair Elections Motion Commission White nominated Commissioner Getz to serve as Chair. Commissioner Abrahamson nominated Commission Barnett as Vice Chair. Commissioner Babs De Lay seconded the nominations. Vote Commissioners White, Getz, Abrahamson, Barnett, and De Lay voted “aye”. The nominations passed. The meeting adjourned at approximately 6:08 pm.
